Since 2005, planning has been going on for a shopping centre in Greenland's capital, Nuuk.
A wide range of shops are behind the project and they have now formed Nuuk Centre Association.
The Danish MT Højgaard undertook construction and Agerskov Consulting in Nuuk was project manager for the new centre.

Shops and cinema
From the start, Nuuk Centre will have about 20 shops spread over about 25,000 square metres. These will include two places that serve food and a café.
With the Katuaq Culture Centre next door, there will be something for the whole family – a shopping trip, with a meal and a trip to the cinema afterwards.

Nuuk Centre gives the smaller shops opportunities they have not previously had, says the Centre Association's chairman, Stefan Ittu Hviid.
He moves his own sports shop into Nuuk Centre, where he will have double the space as now.
- We can, for example, stand together with regard to purchasing, decoration and training, he explains.
Greenland's first shopping centre will have something that is quite unique: Greenland's first underground car park.
It will be interesting to follow the development of Nuuk Centre, since people's desire to go shopping has previously been determined by the weather and this will no longer play a role.
